DENTAL PROSTHODONTICS

Dental prosthodontics is not only one of the many branches of dentistry, it is a discipline that requires a complete and passionate approach of the dentist to both the patient and the patient’s needs.

Our primary goal is not only to restore the missing teeth, but also to bring back the smile and confidence on your face.

ALL CERAMIC CROWNS

WHAT IS AN ALL CERAMIC CROWN?

All ceramic crown presents the best quality and most beautiful prosthodontic teeth restoration. These crowns are made fully of ceramic. Their use has increased for the cases when one tooth or more are missing, in the frontal as well as in the lateral regions of the jaw. When several all ceramic crowns are connected this presents an all ceramic dental bridge.

WHY IS THIS AESTHETICALLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOLUTION IN DENTISTRY?

A more natural teeth appearance, perfect fitting with the rest of the teeth, transparency and ideal light refraction, excellent hardness and long-lasting, are just some of the factors that help choosing this kind of prosthodontic solution.

In addition, a very important factor that we wish to emphasize is the preservation of the soft tissue around the tooth, with no harm to the gums, due to the technically completely different approach in the teeth preparation. For crown to be placed, there is a lot less removal of the tooth substance than for standard metal ceramic crowns. The edge of the all ceramic crown is highly precise, therefore the contact between the crown and gums is perfect. This crown contains a bio-compatible material which suits the mouth tissue really well and has no negative reaction. It is highly polished and with no micro-cracks which prevents dental plaque formation, therefore gums reaction to the presence of the crown practically does not exist.

CERAMIC VENEERS (FACETS)

Ceramic veneers or facets represent aesthetically the best quality solution for changing the color, the size and the shape of natural teeth. It is a method used for maximum preservation of the tooth substance with minimal filing down of only the front surface of the tooth, and sometimes, depending on the indication, the tooth substance does not even need to be removed (no-prep viniri). It is very important to cement veneers to the enamel, the first teeth surface, so that they are well bound to the teeth.

Ceramic veneers are thin ceramic flakes that cover the front surface and the cutting edge of the teeth. In some situations, a smaller part of the inner surface of the teeth can also be covered. Veneers are made of all ceramic systems that give the most beautiful aesthetic results, while at the same time their mechanical properties enable excellent resistance in the mouth. They are made in a dental laboratory with computerized CAD-CAM technology, and based on the scan of the dental impression of your teeth taken in the dental clinic with the finest addition silicons.

Modern technology has explored completely the way of binding of the veneers to the tooth enamel and now it is only necessary to fully apply a very precise procedure for the placement of veneers. Meadent team uses the Variolink Esthethic LC System Kit adhesive system. When used precisely and correctly it represents a guarantee of veneers durability.

METAL CERAMIC CROWNS AND BRIDGES

Crowns are made when the natural tooth is damaged to a greater extent (due to caries, fracture, i.e. in cases when filling cannot be placed onto such tooth), or for aesthetic reasons (dissatisfactory colour, shape or slight deviations from the teeth position). Tooth that is being replaced should be filed first in order to place a crown on it. If greater part of a tooth is missing or we want to achieve strengthening, we use cast tooth restoration. After the filing, impression of the remaining part of a tooth is taken according to which a crown is made in the laboratory. In order to make one crown or a bridge it takes 3-5 days. In the final stage, the crown is cemented onto the filed tooth and the tooth looks totally naturally.

With metal ceramic bridges, we put a layer of ceramic onto the sub-structure that covers metal completely so that the metal cannot be seen at all. In this way endurance provided by the metal is achieved, while simultaneously an excellent aesthetic effect is achieved owing to ceramic on the surface. Apart from high endurance and excellent aesthetic look, these replacements are financially affordable and are mostly chosen by the patients.

METAL-BASED DENTURE WITH ATTACHMENTS

“CLICK” DENTURES

Partial metal-based dentures with attachments present the culmination of knowledge and skills in mobile dental prosthodontics. Their sole purpose is, regardless of the very demanding process of production, to very simply connect fixed and mobile part of the restoration into one fully functional.

What are the attachments? What do they serve for?

The attachments are very precise bonding elements which serve for connecting the fixed restoration to the mobile partial denture. They were invented for the purpose of achieving higher aesthetics, so that the retention elements of the denture (hooks) are not seen when you smile.

The attachments are mechanical structures consisted of two parts, one that is on the denture a the other one which is made with special (milled) crowns on the rest of the teeth. When these two parts are connected in the mouth, that connection becomes unique and wholly responsible for holding the denture, its stabilization and of course aesthetics, because these parts are completely hidden in the denture. Made this way, the denture has only one way of being placed and removed, which preserves the rest of the teeth from inadequate forces.

DENTURES – PARTIAL AND COMPLETE

Dentures are divided into complete and partial.

Complete dentures are made in case of edentulism (teeth less patients), while for the patients who have some teeth left, the solution would be partial dentures. Partial dentures can be acrylate or metal-based and are connected to other teeth by clips or attachments (clips or snaps). Partial acrylate denture is made completely of acrylate material and it is connected to other teeth by wire clips, which makes it less endurable than the metal-based denture. Therefore, it is rarely used, but its advantage is a more favorable price.

Partial metal-based denture is a more qualitative solution because, apart from greater endurance due to the metal structure, it gives a patient a greater comfort since the part of the denture that is touching the soft tissue (palate, under the tongue) is taking a smaller surface. This way, the feeling of a foreign body in the mouth is reduced. Its advantage is connection to the natural remaining teeth by precisely done molded clips, which provides significantly better stability in the mouth. Instead of clips, for even better connection to the adjacent teeth, the attachments can be embedded on metal-based dentures. Attachments hold the denture firmly and stably in the mouth, and they are hidden in the part of denture that is not visible. In those situations, special crowns are made for abutment teeth which are connected to the denture like the key and the lock.

All dentures are made in a very short time period, from 3 to 7 days, depending on the denture type.
